Not my favorite version, of course David Bowie’s original is amazing and always the fave. And while this brings to mind images of the Justice League trailer, it is at a different level of another version I absolutely love, the 90’s version of the Jakob Dylan fronted band The Wallflowers. The Wallflower’s version is more clear, a similar edge to the Bowie version while also being its own thing. This version somehow ends up being more grunge sounding than an actual 90’s band, although I prefer Jakob Dylan’s vocals. It also somehow manages a grunge vibe with synth, which seems like those two things shouldn’t go together well but it’s done well in this cover.
All in all, it’s a pretty solid version, not my fave but by no means the worst.
