Global Citizen Festival 2024: Artists Line-up Revealed

The Global Citizen Festival for 2024 has unveiled its artist line-up. Post Malone, Doja Cat, Rauw Alejandro, and Jelly Roll are set to headline the festival at Central Park in New York City on September 28. The event will continue its mission to advocate for global causes, which began back in 2008.

The festival will be hosted by Global Citizen ambassador Hugh Jackman and will include appearances by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Dr. Jane Goodall, the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a UN Messenger of Peace. The initiative will provide support to nonprofit organizations across New York’s five boroughs.

The campaign’s goals this year include promoting equity and environmental conservation. It aims to ensure access to food, healthcare, and education while seeking financial support from various countries such as Australia, Norway, and Spain. The environmental aspect focuses on investing $1 billion in safeguarding the Amazon rainforest and aiding indigenous communities responsible for much of the world’s biodiversity.

Eradicating poverty remains central to Global Citizen’s mission. During the 2024 campaign, efforts will be made to urge the G7 countries to increase their backing for global anti-poverty programs. Replenishing the International Development Association by at least $100 billion is crucial to supporting over 1.5 billion people in the 75 poorest nations, addressing the root causes of poverty.

The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, acknowledges the significance of Global Citizen’s efforts, stressing the urgent need for support amidst severe climate impacts affecting millions. He emphasizes the critical role wealthy nations play in the replenishment of organizations like the World Bank, especially during times of crisis.
