Discover the Beautiful and Captivating Visuals for Tems’ “Burning”

When Tems released “Born in the Wild” back in June, it marked a significant moment in her career. Over the span of four years, Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, transitioned from the fringes of alternative music to becoming a mainstream favorite, thanks to her raw and reflective music. Her debut album showcased her versatile talent, with her mesmerizing vocals blending seamlessly with soul, R&B, and Afro sounds.

In her latest music video following the album release, Tems pays homage to the soulful influences that have garnered her global acclaim. “Burning,” the third track on “Born in the Wild,” exudes a melancholic yet uplifting vibe, juxtaposing destruction with contentment. Despite the somewhat nihilistic theme of “Guess we’re all burning,” Tems navigates a journey of self-discovery amidst desolate landscapes, a theme expertly portrayed in the video.

Directed by Tems herself, the video captures her wandering through the streets of New York, seemingly detached from the bustling city life. This imagery, often seen in R&B aesthetics, portrays an individual so absorbed in their personal turmoil that they remain aloof from the chaotic world around them. Through a blend of ethereal and vivid scenes, Tems offers an intimate perspective, challenging the conventional narrative of her rapid rise to stardom.

In the midst of the North American tour for “Born in the Wild,” which kicks off on August 22 in Miami Beach and includes venues like the 713 Music Hall, The Met Philadelphia, and The Warfield, fans can expect captivating performances from Tems until October 1 when she concludes the tour at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Following this, she will be heading to Australia for shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.

With exciting prospects on the horizon and the release of the new visual, the Tems era continues to flourish. Dive into the music video for “Burning” below.
