The Boston Celtics secured their 18th NBA Championship on Tuesday, June 18, breaking a 16-year title drought by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden in Boston. This victory, which concluded the series with a 4-1 score, was highlighted by Jaylen Brown’s exceptional performance, earning him the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Brown maintained an impressive average of 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game during the NBA Finals. Furthermore, Jayson Tatum of the Celtics contributed significantly with a double-double, scoring 31 points alongside 8 rebounds and 11 assists.
To commemorate the NBA Finals, NBA Africa organized four watch parties in different cities across the continent.
