The fourth edition of Afro Nation Portugal returned to Praia Da Rocha Beach, Portimão, showcasing a diverse lineup of top music talents from Africa and its diaspora. The festival spanning three days commenced with electrifying performances on the Lit Stage by artists like Ruger, BNXN, Franglish, Lisandro Cruxi, and others. The Piano People stage featured South African acts including Uncle Waffles, Focalistic, and Tyler ICU.
Among the highlights of the first day was the comeback of South African Grammy winner Tyla, who graced the stage after a hiatus due to injury. Tyla entertained the audience with tracks from her debut album, concluding her set with a lively rendition of the popular song, “Water.”
Nigerian artist Asake headlined the first day with an explosive set, even wielding a flamethrower on stage. The pinnacle of the evening was Asake’s surprise guest appearance by British rapper Central Cee, performing their collaborative track, “Wave,” for the very first time. The impromptu performance was met with overwhelming acclaim from the crowd, with Asake himself showing sheer excitement as he lifted Central Cee upon joining him on stage.
