The iconic pop-punk masterpiece Something To Write Home About by The Get Up Kids is hitting its 25-year milestone this year. To commemorate this occasion, the band is not only embarking on a tour performing the full album but also releasing an enhanced and remastered edition.
In addition to the original songs, the Something to Write Home About (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will include a bonus LP featuring 12 rare demos, including the initial four-track acoustic recordings by frontman Matt Pryor. The package will also come with a 28-page full-color booklet. To enhance the nostalgic experience, The Get Up Kids have unveiled the first-ever music video for the opening track “Holiday” from STWHA, featuring vintage band footage from that era. Here’s what the band shared in a press statement:
Reflecting on this video makes us realize how young we were back then. It’s akin to watching family home videos of playing in the backyard. So young, oblivious to the impact of the album on our lives. These glimpses capture the time when the record was completed but not yet widely heard. After a demanding year to finalize it, the album was received with fervor. Many moments in these videos bring back memories, like the shows at The Fireside Bowl in Chicago. It felt like a second home to us. Those youngsters on stage had no inkling how pivotal this album would be, resonating 25 years later.
