MTV European Music Awards Nominees Unveiled for 2011
MTV has revealed the nominees for the 2011 MTV EMA, with Lady Gaga leading with six nominations, followed by Katy Perry and Bruno Mars with four each. Newcomer Adele has also landed three nominations, making it a promising year for her.
Star artist Wizkid is experiencing a successful year despite lingering controversies. He secured a nomination in the Best Africa/India/Middle East category alongside other acts like Abdelfattah Grini, Cabo Snoop, Fally Ipupa, Black Coffee, and Scribe.
The addition of the World Wide Act category has introduced five regions – Africa/India/Middle East, Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America, and Europe. The nominee with the most votes in each region will proceed to the worldwide act category.
The newly added category highlights diversity by recognizing artists from various parts of the globe, showcasing the diverse music available through MTV.
The 18th annual MTV EMA is set to take place on Sunday, November 6, at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena, broadcasting on MTV channels worldwide including MTV and MTV Base.
Voting has commenced on mtvema.com, and the World Wide Act nominees will be disclosed on October 24.
