Uniform Drops New Single “This Is Not A Prayer” on TunesDeck

Uniform – “This Is Not A Prayer”

Uniform, the New York noise-rock duo, announces their upcoming LP “American Standard” with the release of the intense lead single “This Is Not A Prayer.” Vocalist Michael Berdan describes the album as a cohesive piece with each song maintaining its individual identity.

The track “This Is Not A Prayer” showcases rhythmic interplay between drummers Michael Sharp and Michael Blume, drawing influences from bands like Public Image Ltd. and Butthole Surfers. The song explores themes of an internal struggle during an eating disorder, where compliments on physical appearance fueled a destructive mindset.

Guitarist Ben Greenberg aimed to create a foundation for Berdan’s narrative on the album, filled with overwhelming and encompassing elements. The new LP features Michael Sharp, Michael Blume, and Brad Truax from Interpol, with contributions from horror authors B.R. Yeager and Maggie Siebert to enhance the lyrical depth.

The LP also includes tour dates in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, with the album set to release on 8/23 on Sacred Bones.
