The Waeve recently released their single “You Saw” from their upcoming sophomore album, “City Lights.” The band, comprising Blur’s Graham Coxon and the Pipettes’ Rose Elinor Dougall, explores themes of decision-making and self-reflection in the song.
Produced by James Ford, who also worked on their debut album, “City Lights” is a departure from their previous work and reflects a more urgent and introspective tone. Coxon describes the new album as more neurotic and grumpy, emphasizing the importance of conveying raw emotions through their music.
One of the tracks on the album, titled “Song For Eliza May,” focuses on Dougall’s experience of becoming a mother and how it intertwines with larger existential themes and personal growth. The album as a whole is set to be released on 9/20 on Transgressive.
