Charm School, the brainchild of Andy Pastalaniec from the Bay Area, is set to release his second LP titled The Boy Who Ran The Paisley Hotel on Slumberland Records later this summer. The album’s lead single, “Give Your Heart Away,” is already available, delivering the signature sound of Slumberland with its jangly guitars, catchy melodies, and a deep sense of longing.
With influences ranging from bands like the Go-Betweens to later Teenage Fanclub and the underrated East Village, Pastalaniec crafted The Boy Who Ran The Paisley Hotel at his home studio near San Francisco. While the album exudes a nostalgic vibe, it also reflects the dynamic nature of the city, touching upon themes of gentrification and its impact on cherished local spots.
