Elise Okusami, under her project Oceanator, gears up for the release of a new album titled Everything Is Love And Death this summer. In anticipation, she unveils two singles, “First Time” and “Be Here.”
Renowned producer Will Yip, who also worked on the album, plays drums on the energetic “First Time,” a punk-inspired track reflecting on unrequited love. On the other hand, “Be Here” showcases Okusami’s versatility as she handles all instruments, creating a dreamy and introspective tune musing on the possibilities of that longing. Okusami elaborates further in a press release:
“First Time” and “Be Here” exist in the same realm for me. They narrate a day – one during the day and the other at night. “First Time” carries a Thin Lizzy influence with its harmonizing guitar riff, while “Be Here” exhibits a more ethereal and synth-heavy vibe. While Will Yip and my brother Michael contributed to “First Time,” “Be Here” is a solo effort. Despite their differences, I wanted them to coexist, and I’m excited to present them as a double single.”

Everything Is Love And Death will be available on 8/30 via Polyvinyl.
