Mustafa Shares “Gaza Is Calling” Video Starring Bella Hadid & MC Abdul

Mustafa has released a poignant new single titled “Gaza Is Calling.” Composed in 2020, this song delves into a childhood friendship shattered by conflict. The music is heartfelt and nostalgic, delivering a compelling performance by Mustafa. Notably, the music video stars renowned figure Bella Hadid. Mustafa has committed to donating all proceeds from the track to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

Reflecting on the track, Mustafa shared:

“Gaza Is Calling” recounts my first encounter with the pain of a fractured friendship. At 11 years old, I met a boy from Gaza with whom I shared an unbreakable bond. Despite the deep connection we had, the backdrop of violence in our lives, both local and from Gaza, became insurmountable. Our relationship was clouded by conflict, leading to tears each time we met. His final message to me spoke of a reunion in another life.”

“The song incorporates Arabian elements symbolizing our shared nostalgia, my autotuned Arabic vocals represent our attempt to reconcile our diverse backgrounds in our local community, and the Oud represents our intertwined heritage from Sudan and Palestine.”

The music video, directed by Hiam Abbas, features Bella Hadid and MC Abdul, with Mustafa elaborating:

In 2022, I collaborated with Bella on the short film “Gaza Is Calling.” It portrays a narrative of grief transcending borders. The storyline follows Bella Hadid and MC Abdul navigating their personal losses. Concurrently, the narrative includes Israa Ahmed and her sibling, who face the challenges of a refugee camp in Palestine. While Israa and her brother endure the camp in Jenin, Bella and Abdul grapple with their past in the Western world. The director, Hiam Abbas, captures this poignant contrast. The film aims to remind us of our shared responsibility in addressing and denouncing all wars and their impact on every individual and child.”
