Sour Widows – “Big Dogs”

Discover the latest offering from Bay Area slowcore trio Sour Widows as they prepare to release their new album entitled Revival Of A Friend by the end of this month. With singles like “Witness,” “I-90,” and “Cherish” already out, the band is now providing a sneak peek of the upcoming record with “Big Dogs.”

Influenced by bands such as Duster, Bedhead, and Slint, Sour Widows’ music resonates with a familiar sound. “Big Dogs” kicks off with subtle, wandering guitar tunes that form the backdrop for the intertwined vocal harmonies of Susanna Thomson and Maia Sinaiko until it culminates into a powerful wall of sound. Sinaiko sheds light on the song’s narrative in a recent press statement:

Long ago, there were two identical twin brothers named Albert and Henry. They resided in a magnificent abode at the end of a tranquil street. Despite their intimidating stature, people were apprehensive of their presence. However, internally, Albert and Henry felt vulnerable, resembling frightened children, wary of the outside world and its inhabitants. Hence, they chose seclusion in their splendid dwelling at the far end of the serene street. In their private sanctuary, the twin brothers roamed freely, frolicking in the fallen leaves on the lawn, pursuing birds, or enticing cats up trees. For they were not merely humans but rather canines. The largest dogs one could ever come across.

The album Revival Of A Friend will be available on 6/28 via Exploding In Sound.
