Mallrat Unveils New Dance Track “Hocus Pocus”
Australian musician Grace Shaw, known as Mallrat, has made a vibrant return with her new track “Hocus Pocus,” following her earlier release “Ray Of Light.”
Shaw shared a humorous anecdote while creating this song, saying, “I fractured my arm dancing to this demo on the way home.” She expressed her enthusiasm for the track, despite the cast she had to wear. The pre-chorus of the song features intentional sharp breaths, which Shaw likens to a punchline, emphasizing their significance in the pop genre, where they are often minimized.
Produced by Styalz Fuego, known for his work with Troye Sivan and Tate McRae, “Hocus Pocus” also features collaboration with Kito, who has worked with artists like Skrillex and Fletcher. The track is lively and dreamlike, sampling DJ Zirk’s “Born 2 Lose,” and is complemented by a visually captivating music video directed by Tom Carroll. Enjoy the video below.
