Sharon Van Etten’s latest album is quite impressive. Known for her impactful presence in indie music, she has collaborated with her band, the Attachment Theory, to deliver a collection of tracks that feel renewed and energetic. This work leans more towards rock and pop, showcasing a vibrant shift from her previous songs, even surpassing the lively tempo of “Seventeen.” Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory stands out as her best project yet.
Slated for release in February, fans are treated to a preview today with the track “Afterlife.” This song combines electronic and rock elements, featuring Van Etten’s captivating voice and a sound that feels expansive and dynamic. It strikes a balance between being sharp and refined while still radiating warmth and passion, creating an immersive listening experience.
The album was created at the Church, a studio formerly owned by the Eurythmics, under the guidance of producer Marta Salogni. Van Etten shared her thoughts on the album’s development:
For the first time, I asked the band if we could just jam together. I’ve never done that before! The sounds we created intrigued me, and within an hour, we wrote two songs that turned out to be “I Can’t Imagine” and “Southern Life.”
