The Serfs Unleash Sonic Masterpieces with “Paid In Full” and “Regen” on TunesDeck

The Serfs – “Paid In Full” & “Regen”

Cincinnati-based band The Serfs has a fluid lineup that shares some members with Drin. Their latest release, the 2023 album Half Eaten By Dogs, received great acclaim, and they just released a new single last month, now available on Bandcamp.

Last year’s LP was described as a “synth-punk throwdown,” however, this doesn’t quite fit the new songs. The A-side, “Paid In Full,” showcases polished, ’80s-influenced electronic pop, reminiscent of the era when new wave, hip-hop, and dance music were blending — think of it as a lively relative of “West End Girls” without the heavy emotion or a speedy kin of “Get Innocuous.” The B-side, “Regen,” shifts gears by incorporating guitars and using drum machines within a hazy yet catchy garage-psych context. Both tracks are highly recommended.
