After announcing their breakup in December, the much-loved Screaming Females released their last EP Clover in February. Now, drummer Jarrett Dougherty has unveiled his fresh endeavor, 34 Trolley, with their debut EP entitled Relaxation.
The lineup for 34 Trolley features Brittany Luna from Catbite on vocals, Cristian Adams from Push Ups on bass, and Victor Vieira-Branco playing vibraphone. Dougherty shared his thoughts with Brooklyn Vegan:
34 Trolley is an idea I’ve had on my mind for a long time. I have a passion for early 1980s NYC party music. When disco was deemed ‘dead’ by many, NYC’s love for dancing thrived. Punks were exploring new musical directions as the 70s faded away. Hip Hop began its rise downtown, and artists from various genres mingled at parties. This fusion resulted in some remarkable records. My goal with 34 Trolley is to capture that essence.
