Skirts Returns with New Single “Run”
Back in 2021, we highlighted Alex Montenegro’s indie rock project Skirts as a Band To Watch, and her initial album Great Big Wild Oak garnered attention as one of the Best New Bands of the year. Montenegro is now making a comeback with her latest single, “Run.”
“Run” is a dramatic, slower-paced track that captures a sense of intensity within its short two-and-a-half-minute duration. The song features a blend of powerful guitar riffs, lively drums, and piano elements reminiscent of Mogwai, intertwined with Montenegro’s sweet vocals.
“This is one of the final songs I crafted for our upcoming album. After COVID, I found myself writing primarily on the piano, and this track is a product of that shift. Joshua Luttrull composed the guitar section, with Daniel Bryson on drums and Bennet Littlejohn handling the bass, which all contributed to the current sound. I feel a lot of growth in our music and I’m thrilled to finally share something new after a few years of silence.”
