Almost a year has passed since Israel escalated its operations in Gaza, revealing a lack of motivation from both major American political parties to advocate for its cessation. Throughout this period, Seattle rapper Macklemore has been a strong advocate for Palestinian rights. At a march in Washington last year, he notably referred to Israel’s actions as “genocide,” marking a significant moment for a mainstream artist. Recently, he released “Hind’s Hall,” which stands in solidarity with Palestinians and commemorates Hind Rajab, a young girl killed alongside her family. Now, Macklemore has unveiled a follow-up track titled “Hind’s Hall 2.”
The new single, which dropped on Saturday, is intended to benefit UNRWA USA, a charitable organization focused on aiding Palestinian refugees. The track features contributions from Palestinian-American artist Anees, Gaza-born rapper MC Abdul, the LA Palestinian Kids Choir, and Lifted! Youth Gospel Choir, with Amer Zahr, a Palestinian-American comedian, playing the oud. Macklemore’s concluding verse delivers a strong message: “Long live the resistance… Had enough of you motherfuckers murdering little kids…” He also addresses Vice President Kamala Harris, urging her to reconsider U.S. financial support to Israel, reflecting a broader sentiment of solidarity with Palestine. Check out the song below.
During a recent concert in Seattle, Macklemore performed “Hind’s Hall 2” live for the first time and made a pointed statement, saying, “Fuck America.” This comment is likely to spark discussions, but it resonates with the feelings many are experiencing at this moment.
