Pluto: Future’s Latest Mixtape is Here to Make Waves

Future Is Really Rapping On His New Album Mixtape Pluto

In 2023, Atlanta rap icon Future teamed up with Metro Boomin to release two collaborative projects, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, just weeks apart. These albums shaped the rap conversation this year, especially with “Like That,” a chart-topping track that sparked discussions between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Now, Future returns with his new project, Mixtape Pluto.

The title might be a bit misleading; Mixtape Pluto is technically an album, not a mixtape, and it follows Future’s previous album titled Pluto. However, it signals Future’s return to his mixtape origins, aiming to recapture the intensity of his successful mid-2010s era. While it remains to be seen if any tracks from Mixtape Pluto will match the impact of his earlier work, Future showcases a strong focus throughout this record.

This album is unique as it features no guest artists; Metro Boomin is absent. Instead, the production is spearheaded by Southside and Wheezy, both long-time collaborators who serve as executive producers. They deliver powerful beats that complement Future’s style. Although there aren’t any sensational headlines emerging from Future’s lyrics on first listen, the album demonstrates his dedication and raw energy, particularly on the track “Ski.” Below, you can listen to the album.

Mixtape Pluto is available now under Epic Records.
