Tucker Zimmerman’s Musical Collaboration with Big Thief
Tucker Zimmerman, at 83 years, shows that he remains in touch with contemporary music trends. He has teamed up with the indie band Big Thief for his new album titled Dance Of Love. The release was announced alongside the first single, “Burial At Sea,” last month, and now he has unveiled two additional tracks: “The Idiot’s Maze” and “The Season.”
Exploring “The Idiot’s Maze”
The track “The Idiot’s Maze” delivers an engaging sound infused with a bluegrass vibe. While Zimmerman’s vocals take center stage, Big Thief’s influence is clear through Adrianne Lenker’s distinct backing harmonies, complemented by quirky and surreal lyrical imagery: “I’ll ride you high on a horse latitude/ Pump you up with a breathing tube/ Pick you up and remind you why/ I remind you of a bottlenecktie.”
The Reflective Nature of “The Season”
In contrast, “The Season” adopts a more laid-back tone, featuring a conversation between Zimmerman and Lenker that reflects on the passage of time. You can listen to both tracks below.
The album Dance Of Love is set to release on October 11 through 4AD.
