In 2021, the bold New Orleans dance-punk group Special Interest released the dynamic album Endure. They have now unveiled a new track, “Nothing Grows Here,” marking the first original release since that album, following a revised version of their earlier song “Disco.”
Looking ahead, Special Interest will be joining Show Me The Body on their tour, which includes performances by High Vis and ZelooperZ. The new song, a raw and energetic piece with a basic techno beat, is anticipated to electrify the crowd during these shows. Frontwoman Alli Logout describes “Nothing Grows Here” as addressing themes of stagnation and the choice to challenge one’s comfort zone. It’s an exploration of the unsettling awareness of decline and a reflection on personal values, culminating in a moment of urgency for action.
