Finneas O’Connell, widely recognized for his collaboration with sister Billie Eilish, has gained significant acclaim including Oscars and numerous Grammys. Alongside his work with Billie, he also pursues a solo career. His first album, Optimist, released in 2021, is set to be succeeded by a new album titled For Cryin’ Out Loud next month. Today, he has unveiled a fresh track.
The latest single from Finneas, “Cleats,” offers a bright indie-pop vibe, mingled with elements reminiscent of Brill Building pop. The sound echoes a style similar to Vampire Weekend, which has resonated well with critics including our own Scott Lapatine. The music video, directed by Isaac Ravishankara, features a miniature Finneas exploring a child’s room, appearing as if shrunk by a quirky invention. Check it out below.
The album For Cryin’ Out Loud will be available on October 4th, released under OYOY/Interscope.
