Over the past few months, Halsey has been unveiling her new music era. Starting with “The End” in June, co-produced by herself, Michael Uzowuru, and Alex G, followed by “Lucky” in July, inspired by Britney Spears. In August, she released “Lonely Is The Muse”. She has now officially announced her upcoming album, The Great Impersonator, set to be released on October 25. The latest single, “Ego,” features Alex G on guitar and Uzowuru on keyboard.
She described the album as something she made in the space between life and death, expressing her anticipation for fans to hear it. Halsey initiated a scavenger hunt in several cities to uncover time capsules containing LP artwork and its four variants.
A trailer for the album was also shared, where she contemplates this album as potentially her last and reflects on different paths her life could have taken. The transformation from 18-year-old Ashley to Halsey in 2014 is a theme central to the record.

My 5th studio album “The Great Impersonator” coming October 25th.
I made this record in the space between life and death. And it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it. I’ll wait a bit longer. I’ve waited a decade, already.
