Recently, Sting collaborated with his guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas, a former member of Mumford & Sons, to create a new power trio. This trio, known as Sting’s 3.0 group, debuted in Dresden in May and is gearing up for a North American tour. Sting’s latest creation, the song “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart),” marks his return to producing new music after a hiatus.
The track “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” defies expectations based on its title. Rather than a contemporary sound, the song is a gritty rock piece driven by the iconic Bo Diddley beat. Sting showcases his versatility by playing bass and guitar on the track, which also features Dominic Miller, Chris Maas, and producer Martin Kierszenbaum on organ.
While there is no word yet on an upcoming album from Sting’s 3.0 group, this single serves as a preview of their live capabilities. Below, you can listen to “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” and explore their North American tour schedule.
