Despite the buzz surrounding the Oasis reunion, there’s a moment to acknowledge Blur, their former rivals, whose recent reunion didn’t end as expected. Moving forward, the Blur members are pursuing individual paths. Damon Albarn speaks in somewhat pretentious manners, Dave Rowntree partakes in elections, and guitarist Graham Coxon collaborates with the WAEVE, his band alongside former Pipettes member Rose Elinor Dougall.
The WAEVE, working with producer James Ford, is set to release their second album, City Lights, next month. The title track and “You Saw” have already been shared, and now, introducing the edgy and intense track, “Broken Boys.” This new piece from the WAEVE features a drowning, distorted garage rock riff infused with hiss-clank early-industrial beats in the rhythm section. Graham Coxon showcases dedication by producing purposeful music even at this stage of his career. Listen to “Broken Boys” below.
City Lights will be available on 9/20 via Transgressive.
