New Album Collaboration with Big Thief
Tucker Zimmerman, a folk musician from California, released his debut album Ten Songs in 1969, which was produced by Tony Visconti and admired by David Bowie. Big Thief, a band of avid fans, including Adrianne Lenker, who lauds Zimmerman as “one of the greatest songwriters of all time,” have collaborated with the 83-year-old musician based in Belgium on his upcoming fall album.
Big Thief, alongside collaborators Mat Davidson and Zach Burba, have produced Zimmerman’s new album Dance Of Love. They also contribute musically and are joined by Zimmerman’s wife, Marie-Claire, for backup harmonies. Zimmerman expressed his artistic journey and the positive impact he aims to create with his music:
…songs of only one kind were worth spending time on: those which had a positive message and a peaceful vibration […] Just poetry. Little hums that perhaps might lift us all above our daily worries and fears, little hums that try to make the world a better place to live in.
The album’s lead single, “Burial At Sea,” exemplifies gentle folk-rock influenced by Big Thief but centered around Zimmerman’s voice. The accompanying video captures a serene recording session featuring Zimmerman and Big Thief. Below are the tracklist for Dance Of Love and Zimmerman’s upcoming live shows.
