Former Oxbow Vocalist Announces New Buñuel Album Feat. Members Of Converge, Couch Slut, Jesus Lizard, & More (Music on TunesDeck)

During a European tour, Oxbow, an experimental rock band, faced the departure of lead vocalist Eugene Robinson. Robinson’s unsettling departure was announced in a Substack post where he expressed dismay over potentially contributing to the world’s distress. Guitarist Niko Wenner mentioned on Instagram that Oxbow no longer existed due to an accusation against him. Robinson has now resurfaced with the noise-rock supergroup Buñuel, unveiling a double LP titled Mansuetude, set for release in October.

Buñuel, featuring Robinson, guitarist Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours, A Short Apnea), bassist Andrea Lombardini (the Framers), and drummer Franz Valente (Il Teatro Delgi Orrori), introduced their lead single “Drug Burn” along with the album announcement.

Produced by Timo Ellis, Mansuetude will include contributions from Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, guitarist Duane Denison from the Jesus Lizard, Couch Slut’s Megan Osztrosits, cellist Andrea Beninati, and David Binney on alto saxophone and vocals.

One of the steadfast rules the Hells Angels used to tout to members was NO DRUG BURNS. Which just goes to show, there really IS honor among, well, you know. Following a wayward path to an even more wayward song BUNUEL’s rendering of said BURN will make your ears (and eyes if you’re lucky enough to see the video) burn. Crunchy, melodic and harder than a lot of hardcore, it’s a travelog into places your mom told you to steer clear of.
