Amyl And The Sniffers – “Chewing Gum”

Amyl And The Sniffers’ Latest Album “Cartoon Darkness”

Amyl And The Sniffers unveiled two singles, “U Should Not Be Doing That” and “Facts,” in May. They have now revealed their upcoming album named Cartoon Darkness, the successor to their 2021 release Comfort To Me. Set to be released in October, the album will feature “U Should Not Be Doing That” as well as the newest single “Chewing Gum.”

The band worked on Cartoon Darkness with producer Nick Launay (known for his work with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles earlier this year. “Chewing Gum” showcases a compelling mid-tempo guitar groove, with Amy Taylor’s punk influences evident in her vocal delivery. In the song, she passionately expresses, “Life is short, life is fun, and I’m young and so dumb/ I’m stuck on you just like a chewing gum.”

Reflecting on life’s challenges and unmet desires, Amy shares a message of embracing ignorance and choosing love despite its complexities. The track celebrates youth while acknowledging its fleeting nature, emphasizing the liberation in making emotional decisions over logical ones. Despite facing external turmoil, Amy advocates for embracing joy, personal power, and resilience in the face of adversity.
