Asake’s Surprise Collaboration with Wizkid on ‘MMS’
Singer Asake shared a surprising revelation about his song “MMS”, stating that Wizkid joined him on the track unexpectedly. During an Instagram Q&A session, Asake mentioned that initially, he had someone else in mind for the collaboration. However, producer P. Prime played the song for Wizkid, who expressed his interest in being featured. Asake, impressed by Wizkid’s enthusiasm, agreed to the collaboration.
“I didn’t know I was going to put Wizkid on that song to be honest. I had someone else in mind for that song, but I think P.prime played the song to wiz, and wiz said “I f*ck with this song, I want to jump on it’,” he said.
The track was included in Asake’s album “Lungu Boy,” which garnered significant attention by setting multiple streaming records. The album achieved the highest number of first-day listens for an African album on Spotify with 9.42 million streams, while “MMS” itself garnered 870,000 streams, marking the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria.
