Interviewer: So, your dad influenced you to become an artist?

KCee: Nah, it’s quite the opposite. My dad DJ’d, but he never wanted any of his kids to do music due to the archaic belief that it wasn’t lucrative enough and musicians were seen as wayward. Music was restricted for us, and football was my dream initially. However, fate had other plans, and music entered my life through an HIV awareness presentation where comedian Julius Agwu discovered my talent, leading me to join a music group and embark on a nationwide tour.

KCee: After returning from the tour with considerable earnings, my father finally saw the potential in my music career and allowed me to pursue it wholeheartedly.

Interviewer: Was touring with a big brand easy back then?

KCee: It wasn’t easy, but meeting Julius Agwu and getting involved with Golden Circle paved the way for my music journey. While on tour, I crossed paths with influential artists who encouraged me to enter the Star Quest talent show, a pivotal moment in my career.

KCee: Despite playing football professionally, a moment during a performance where my football injury affected me made me realize that music was where my true passion and potential lay. I made the decision to focus on music, a choice that has shaped my career ever since.
