In 2012, the clever Houston underground artist Fat Tony collaborated with producer Tom Cruz on the mixtape “Double Dragon.” Since then, Fat Tony has remained dedicated to his DIY approach. Recently, he joined forces with Tom Cruz, now known as GLDNEYE, on the track “Last Call.” Now, they are back with a new release together.
The latest track, “Double Down,” produced by GLDNEYE, showcases a more synthpop sound rather than traditional rap. The title may be a nod to the previous collaboration, “Double Dragon.” In this song, Fat Tony blends singing and rapping to convey the message of staying authentic to oneself, even when faced with conflicting advice.
