Get ready for Laurie Anderson’s upcoming album, Amelia, set to be released later this month. This new album is a groundbreaking conceptual piece centered around the final flight of the iconic aviator Amelia Earhart. Collaborating with the Czech Republic-based Filharmonie Brno orchestra, Laurie Anderson incorporates the essence of her fellow downtown artists into this unique project. Among these collaborators is ANOHNI, featured on the track “India And On Down To Australia.”
ANOHNI recently reunited with her former band, the Johnsons, for shows across Europe and is gearing up for their first North American tour in 15 years. In “India And On Down To Australia,” Laurie Anderson’s signature vocodered monotone, known from “O Superman,” narrates Amelia Earhart’s journeys with a sense of warmth, while ANOHNI embellishes the vocals with her own distinctive style. The track also features talented musicians like Martha Mook, Rob Moose, Tony Scherr, Nadia Sirota, Kenny Wollesen, and renowned downtown guitarist Marc Ribot. Take a listen below.
Amelia will be available on 8/30 via Nonesuch. For more insights, delve into our exclusive interview with ANOHNI, titled We’ve Got A File On You.
