Half Waif, also known as Nandi Rose, is set to release a new album titled See You At The Maypole in October. The album marks Rose’s sixth release under this alias, with the lead single “Figurine” now available for listeners.
Rose crafted this album following a solo retreat in a Catskills cabin, intending to explore themes different from her 2021 album Mythopoetics. However, her creative process was deeply influenced by a challenging miscarriage experience she faced during the months that followed. This personal journey heavily impacted the album, reflecting themes of unity amidst personal struggles.
The song “Figurine” delves into Rose’s emotional turmoil with poignant lyrics like “I felt it growing in me/ And now everything is gone.” The accompanying music video, directed by Derrick Belcham, enhances the emotional depth of the track.
