Nigerian artist, Portable, shared his thoughts about the Hunger Dey and #Endbadgovernance protests happening in the country. He criticized the protesters, suggesting that many of them are lazy and not interested in working. The demonstrations, which occurred on August 1, drew thousands of Nigerians protesting against hunger and economic challenges.
Portable believes that a significant number of the protesters are not genuinely looking for employment but are instead involved in unlawful activities. He pointed out that besides bad governance, there are also negative elements within society. The singer condemned the destruction of public and private properties during the protests, blaming the protesters for these actions instead of the government.
He called for an end to both bad governance and bad behavior among citizens. In his statement, he said,
“Most of the protesters are lazy people. If you see work, would you do it, or would you engage in theft and other crimes? Now you’re demanding an end to bad governance; they should also end bad people. Is it the government setting fires and damaging people’s cars? Is it the government demolishing houses? It’s you, right? End bad people, not just bad government, end all of them.”
