The upcoming album of Trace Mountains, a project by Dave Benton from LVL UP, called Into The Burning Blue, is set to release this September. The first single, “In A Dream,” is already available.
Following the 2021 album HOUSE OF CONFUSION, Into The Burning Blue began taking shape after Benton went through the end of an eight-year relationship. This significant change in his life influenced the sound of the album, incorporating a drum machine and drawing influences from ’80s music. “In A Dream” narrates Benton’s nighttime bike ride as he contemplates his position in capitalist America, peering through the windows of people’s homes. Benton shared his thoughts on the track:
When Craig and I started working on the album, we envisioned “In A Dream” as the opening track,” Benton explains, “In an album that is deeply autobiographical and personal, it was important to start with a broader perspective. Especially now, in a US election year, recognizing the suffering imposed by the state and the denial of life that happens not just here but around the world is significant. Dreams come in various forms – nightmares, fantasies, and genuine aspirations. Through “In A Dream,” I wanted to delve into the universal concept of Dreams – those experienced at night and during the day, their meanings, and who has the privilege of having them.
