Porridge Radio released their most recent albums, Every Bad in 2020 and Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder To The Sky in 2022, both receiving Album Of The Week recognition and establishing the band as a standout in British indie rock scene. They are now back with the announcement of their fourth LP, Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me. The epic closing track, “Sick Of The Blues,” is being introduced as the lead single.
Lead singer Dana Margolin shared the inspiration behind “Sick Of The Blues,” describing it as a song about healing from heartbreak and reclaiming one’s joy and independence. Margolin expressed a desire to let go of negative emotions, rediscover simplicity, and find happiness within oneself, even after enduring pain and disappointment in relationships. The band has undergone changes since the release of their last album, with bassist Maddie Ryall being replaced by Dan Hutchins.
In reflecting on the album’s themes, Margolin revealed that her personal experiences with burnout and failed relationships heavily influenced the music. She explained the album’s exploration of intense and sometimes turbulent emotions stemming from losing oneself in a past relationship and the subsequent challenges faced in forging new connections. Margolin also shared the emotional toll of recording the album and the cathartic process of creating “Sick Of The Blues.”
The music video for “Sick Of The Blues” was directed by Margolin’s sister, Ella. Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me was produced with engineer Dom Monks and is set to release on 10/18 via Secretly Canadian.
