An update on the highly-anticipated Nas/DJ Premier album is still pending, but for now, we have a new track from Premier featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Big Sean. The collaboration was born out of Premier’s recent string of releases including a teaser from the Nas album and tracks with Snoop Dogg, Common, Russ, and Westside Gunn and Rome Streetz.
Despite Premier’s roots in Houston, his signature New York sound shines through in “Ya Don’t Stop” with verses from artists representing various cities and eras. Premier shares the backstory of the track, highlighting the seamless collaboration process with Ross, Wayne, and Sean.
“Ya Don’t Stop” marks Premier’s consistent release of singles, with the track initially conceptualized for Wayne and Ross. Ross promptly laid down vocals, while Wayne offered to keep both tracks Premier sent him. An unexpected call from Big Sean for a scratch hook led to his inclusion in the track, completing the cypher.”
