Ayra Starr’s First Performance on US Television with “Last Heartbreak Song” and “Woman Commando”

Ayra Starr has had a remarkable year so far. She started off by opening for Chris Brown on his 11:11 tour, worked with the legendary Chris Martin of Coldplay, collaborated, connected with Will Smith, and made her debut at Glastonbury.

She recently had her debut on American television on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she performed “Last Heartbreak Song” with Giveon and “Woman Commando”. Starr hinted that the music video for “Woman Commando” may be directed by Taylor Swift.

The songs performed are from Starr’s second album, The Year I Turned 21, which entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 195 in May. This achievement was significant for Nigerian female artists on the global music scene.

Starr gained popularity with her 2021 hit “Away” that topped Nigeria’s Turntable Top 50 chart. She followed this success with singles like “Bloody Samaritan,” “Rush,” and “Commas.” With her incredible and powerful voice, she has collaborated on hit songs including “Beggi Beggi” with CKay, “Love Don’t Cost a Dime” with Magixx, “Ngozi” with Crayon, “2 Sugar” with Wizkid, and more recently, “Last Heartbreak Song” with Giveon.
