Horse Jumper Of Love, a shoegaze band from Boston, is set to release their new album Disaster Trick. They have already shared singles like “Gates Of Heaven,” “Wink,” and “Snow Angel,” which received great reviews. Could this album be a contender for Album Of The Year? Definitely a possibility! Their latest preview, “Today’s Iconoclast,” is now available for a sneak peek.
The bandleader Dimitri Giannopoulos shared the inspiration behind the song, “Today’s Iconoclast.” He said, “I was watching a Pasolini film and read someone describe him as an iconoclast. I became obsessed with that word and idea. In order to make something good, you have to destroy a belief in some way. You can’t stay static, you have to accept change and be able to adjust. I was thinking everyone should try to be as iconoclastic as they can because a lot of people end up being unhappy or unsatisfied. I think we all could be happier if we made an effort to destroy what we believe to be true about our own desires.”
The song “Today’s Iconoclast” is captivating with thought-provoking lyrics like “We gave blood to our fantasies, We play f*ck, kill, marry” and “Hate’s the noise of sorrow, I read it in the Amazon Basics Bible.” The music video directed by Rhys Scarabosio adds another layer to the experience.
The album Disaster Trick will be released on 8/16 under Run For Cover.
